Peter Saunders Review 2022

  • Dry style
  • Ripe strawberry
  • Crunchy apple
  • Mouth-watering

"Elegantly fragrant and delightfully appealing, the wine shows ripe strawberry, crunchy apple and apricot characters with a hint of spicy overtone. It's juicy and rounded on the palate displaying gentle weight and pristine fruit flavours, leading to a lengthy mouth-watering finish. At its best: now to 2024" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Jul 2022

"A very nice Summer sipper, 8.5% alc and with a delicate, easy drinking fruit style in the warmth of a day. Near dry, suited to light food, salmon" Peter Saunders Review 2022

A juicy and inviting Rosé that presents as an appealing pale salmon when poured. Enjoy notes of raspberry and apricot followed by mouth watering flavours of mixed berry citrus sorbet. It may be light in alcohol but it’s full of flavour that makes you long for another glass. Chill a bottle, relax in the sunshine and enjoy this delicious Rosé.

We craft Toi Toi Light Rosé from grapes sourced across New Zealand’s best wine growing regions – from Gisborne and the Hawkes Bay to Marlborough, Waipara and Central Otago.

Vintage 2022 was defined by its challenges. While big bountiful crops stretched infrastructure and Covid diminished the workforce, the weather remained indifferent leading into harvest. Stories of early picking and compromised crops floated around. But those who allowed the fruit time on the vine were ultimately rewarded with wonderful, fresh and vibrant fruit flavours. Our vineyard teams across the regions are to be congratulated. Their diligence, and skills along with the regular updates on the progress of the crop to the winemaker, allowed us to receive flavourful grapes in great condition. Without their hard work the outcome may have been very different.

To create a lower in alcohol wine, the important factor isn’t taking away – it’s ensuring the flavour stays. It’s all in the fruit selection. We select fruit with bright aromatic qualities and varietal intensity. When the alcohol is reduced in the winemaking process, these notes and flavors are retained, as is the zesty and refreshing mouthfeel of the wines.

Toi Toi Light Rosé offers lower calories and less alcohol, with no compromise in flavour or quality. Toi Toi was one of the first New Zealand winemakers to create lower in alcohol wines. Our experience is showcased in the enormous popularity of these wines amongst a growing number of health and socially conscious wine lovers.

Better than other low alc roses we’ve had.
