Description

The Douro Valley in Portugal, up to Barca de Alva, is the oldest demarcated wine region in the world! Ramos Pinto owns four estates in the Douro, and it is one of the leading Houses producing high quality Douro and Port wines.

Let us take you on a journey to experience some of the finest Tawny Port's produced in this historic region.

Collection includes:

2 x Ramos Pinto Porto Tawny NV (Portugal)

A tawny red with a topaz meniscus. The first aroma gives the impression of buoyancy and develops into a great smoothness acquired from having been matured in wood. In the mouth, it feels light, warm and very soft as a result of its ageing. This “adolescent” is a mature and fruity Port with a complex and delicate character. Its finish is perfectly balanced, giving it a flavour some delicateness.

The Tawny is a three to five-year-old blend obtained by blending wines with different degrees of maturity brought about by the ageing process in barrels and hogshead casks.

Alc: 19.5%

1 x Ramos Pinto Porto White NV (Portugal)

Golden yellow colour. It presents an aroma that it both fine and intense. SOmewhat complex, it features a mixture of citrine aromas with a hint of honey and almond. Its attack is fresh and delicate. SOme resinous hints can be detected along with a rich buttery taste on the palate. Dry in the mouth with a flavour of fresh fruit.

Fermentation with partial skin maceration.

Alc: 19.5%

1 x Ramos Pinto Porto Late Bottled Vintage 2015 (Portugal)

Great concentration of colour. Lively shades of ruby, opaque and very dense. Fresh red fruit aromas such as strawberry, raspberry and red cherry have the first impact. Notes of lavender and cloves add to the complexity of the wine. This unfiltered LBV is soft, engaging and brimming with energy. Rich and dense with underlying black fruit on the mid-palate. Tannins are noticeable yet well integrated, followed by a long flavourful finish.

Fermentation lasts from 3 to 5 days, producing a wine with excellent extract. The wine is then aged in Vila Nova de Gaia, in wooden vats of approximately 15,000 litres. This is a traditional LBV which is left unfiltered and unfined to preserve all the existing fruit and its great ageing potential.

Alc: 19.44%

1 x Ramos Pinto Porto Tawny 10 YO (Portugal)

Orange-red in colour with a touch of green. A well-rounded, generous aroma with balance and a hint of wine. Fruit aromas include orange, apricot and plum. Vanilla and old Port wine casks make up its woody aromas. This is a fruity tawny variety. In the mouth, one can still taste the fresh fruit surrounded by the ageing in wood. A good structure and perfect balance between fruit and alcohol. The attack on the palate is smooth and full-bodied. Following the initial oily feel, a fresh, soft fruitiness appears which finishes with a slightly acidic, woody note.

This tawny is a blend with an average age of 10 years.

Alc: 20%

1 x Ramos Pinto Porto Tawny 20 YO (Portugal)

A tawny colour with a yellow halo that signifies an advanced stage of maturity. This is the genuine colour of a 20 year-old cask-aged wine. It has a warm red colour with a slight orange tone at the bottom of the glass. A lively aroma with a velvety texture. Fruit aromas: grapefruit, apricot, almond, hazelnut and cocoa bean. Wood aromas: vanilla, old Port wine casks and phenol. Roasted aromas: cinnamon, caramel, coffee. Ethereal aromas: stearin and iodine. Smooth and dry in the mouth, complemented by a rich and generous persistence of flavour. A fine and delicious attack. The elegance of the first contact with the palate is maintained through a complex sequence of ripe and dried fruits and nuts in a fresh and liquorice-like harmony.

Made from wines of the Quinta de Bom Retiro, this is a blend with an average age of 20 years, an
adult and sophisticated tawny.
