Description

  • Dry style
  • Lime & spices
  • Mineral texture
  • Lemony finish

"Pristine and delicately lifted, showing crunchy apple, lemon/lime peel and white floral aromas on the nose, leading to a vibrant palate that's light and lingering. The wine offers excellent fruit purity and elegance combined with firm acidity, finishing impressively long and mouth-watering. At its best: 2024 to 2034" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Mar 2021

"Attractive, fresh and crisp apple and lime, as well as sliced pear, gentle spice and minerals. Some florals, too. The palate has a fresh, fine and juicy feel and some fleshy build. Long acidity holds the finish. Drink or hold" James Suckling, Apr 2022

"Subtle sweet citrus fragrances and good flavour intensity with a balance between residual sugar and acid" Winestate Magazine, Nov 2021

The 2021 is a concentrated Riesling with true Knappstein traits of lime, spice and white florals on the nose and a generously flavoured palate. An elegant wine with lively acid, mineral texture and a powerful and persistent lemon finish.

The fruit is sourced from our own Clare Valley vineyards, showing the spectrum of flavours when blended carefully together. Vine ages range from approximately 10 – 30 years old.

A cool dry winter and hot start to summer had us bracing for another difficult vintage. Thankfully, we received some welcome rain at the start of February which helped to keep the vines fresh. Cool temperatures during February and March was perfect for vines to ripen exceptional flavours. The grapes for this year’s Knappstein Riesling were harvested in the third week of February.
