"Complex and enticing with dark berry, assorted nut, clove and rich floral aromas, it's splendidly flavoursome and delectable in the mouth displaying ripe fruit intensity together with savoury nuances. Well supported by silky texture and fine tannins, offering excellent drinking. At its best: now to 2027" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
"From un-irrigated, low-yielding vineyards fanned by coastal sea breezes. Includes 10% tempranillo and 5% monastrell. Consultant winemaker is Norrel Robertson MW. A bold, intense and pleasantly rustic red with cassis, plum, berry, charcuterie, dark chocolate, and wood-smoke flavours supported by round, ripe tannins. A rich, savoury wine that offers great value at this price" Bob Campbell, Master of Wine, Real Review, Aug 2022
Bright and intensely vibrant red fruit aromas with generous, smooth red and black berry flavours, soft tannins and a nice touch of spice from the oak.
Founded in 1945, Bodega La Viña is an avant-garde wine company, and is one of the leading wineries in Valencia. Located in the Valencian town of La Font de la Figuera, its superb location between the Mediterranean and the Meseta plateau, gives its wines impressive character thanks to the sun, sea breeze, dry climate, cold winters and altitude.
Terres dels Alforins is a fertile valley in the south west of the province of Valencia and is called the "Valencian Tuscany": a multitude of small plots between the sea and the Meseta where vines have been tended since Roman times.
Winemaker Jorge Caus Pertegaz with the assistance of consultant Norrel Robertson Master of Wine, has selected this stunning value Garnacha, Spain’s second most planted variety from mostly non-irrigated vineyards with low yields and blended it with 10% Tempranillo and 5% Monastrell for added flavour complexity. Fermentation is in stainless steel tanks for 7 days at 22C to retain the intense fruit character of the variety and then a portion of the wine is matured in oak barrels for 7 months.
Food Pairing: A versatile wine that matches grilled or slow cooked meat, and can also be matched with moderately spicy dishes such as Moroccan tagines, hearty vegetarian dishes and mature cheeses.
