Description

  • American & French oak
  • Dark plum & red berries
  • Violet & spices
  • Rich tannins

"Medium ruby-red with a slight garnet hue, lighter on the rim. The nose is softly full, nuances of red berries, plums, pomegranate interweave violet and an amalgam of spices. Medium-bodied, aromas of red berries, red plums and pomegranate enriched by leathery development and mixed barrel spices. Fine-grained tannin has been mellowed, coated the palate with a fine grip. Lively acidity provides support and freshness to the wine. This is a lively red with vibrant fruit and acidity on a softened tannin grip. Match with char-grilled steak and meatballs over the next 3 years. Handpicked, fermented in two separate batches with different yeasts, 5 weeks skin contact; 46% portion French-barrel-aged for 19 months, 75% of that in puncheons; a further 7% aged in new American oak for 6 months. Final blending and settled in tank for 11 months before bottling" Candice Chow, Raymond Chan Reviews, Mar 2022

"Aromas of dark plums and compote, there’s an earthy bottled aged quality adding complexity and depth. Moderate oak lift with darker baking spice and marmite qualities. The earthy qualities are behind the drive and flavour profile on the palate. A dry wine with dusty tannins and medium acidity, flavours of plums and dark charry compote, marmite and vanilla spice. I find this wine to be ready now so best drinking from day of purchase and through 2024" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier

Ruby colour of plums, prunes and blueberries with smoky oak tannins. Sweet berries entice, with red liquorice and rich tannins giving an extended finish to the wine.

Food Pairing: Ideal for pizza and pasta dishes. Rich eye filet steak or try roast chicken with a mushroom sauce.
