Description

"The wine is beautifully fruited and fragrant on the nose showing dark plum, spiced cherry, olive, vanilla and toasted hazelnut characters. It is equally appealing on the palate, delivering succulent fruit intensity and silky mouthfeel, leading to a lingering tasty finish. At its best: now to 2021" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Jul 2019

This is classic Rioja with all that moreish, silky, ripe berry fruit tempered by toasty spice. It’s a family estate, founded by three brothers, and has over the years won many awards.

This 2016 is made largely from strawberry scented Tempranillo, with a dash of velvety, perfumed Graciano adding depth and savoury notes. For extra complexity, the winemaker matured half the wine in new oak barrels for four months, allowing it to pick up hints of vanilla and toasty spice, while letting plenty of exuberant, youthful, fruit character shine through. A delight on its own, this wine is spot on with garlic chicken, lamb chops with rosemary or a selection of tapas.

You couldn't think of Spain without Rioja, the region where Tempranillo is king. When we think of Rioja we also immediately picture Spain’s other famous culinary delights: beautiful slices of Jamon Serrano (Spain’s version of Prosciutto), salty chunks of Manchego cheese and a bowl full of ripe green olives.
One sip and we’re transported. The wine is known for its structure and tannins, similar to Cabernet Sauvignon, but it also has a fruity characteristic. This is a wine perfect for a drinker who loves Cabernet but is also looking for the dominant cherry flavor that’s often present in a wine like Pinot Noir.

The winery was founded more than 100 years ago by Olegario Rivero in the Riojan area of Arnedo. Today the business is run by the fourth generation of the family. The winery is now using some of the most modern equipment and is also developing new wines using a wider range of grape varieties.

De-stemmed and partially crushed, with a high proportion of full berries. This wine underwent a 10 - 15 days maceration period with a daily over-pumping. Controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks at 24 - 28º C. Selected yeast to obtain the maximum potential out of the grapes.
Aged for 12 to 14 months in American oak barrel with medium toast, providing the wine with complexity and spices hints.

Food Pairing: This wine is delightful on its own and is spot on with garlic chicken, lamb chops with rosemary or a selection of tapas.
