"The complexity in our 2018 Rua Pinot Rosé comes from diverse vineyard selection across two sub regions - Bannockburn and Pisa. The Pisa vineyard brings energy and tension to the acid structure; and the Bannockburn vineyards contribute fruit richness and character. The parent material of the soil here is schist; ground up over time, giving the wine driving minerality and glacial purity" Winemaker
Wildly exotic fruit salad perfume of pineapple, passionfruit, strawberries and watermelon. Heady florals too - jasmine, lilies and gardenia. The centre palate is lush with strawberry and cream texture, with balancing freshness, a grapefruit skin kick, and long mineral-led finish. Delicious!
An exceptionally warm, dry spring and early summer gave unusually high early season growth. This extraordinary heat brought the whole growing season forward culminating in the winemakers earliest Rosé harvest on March 1st. Late summer brought record high rainfall with relatively cool daytime temperatures. These cooler temperatures kept disease pressure in check and the fruit delivered to the winery by the vineyard crew was in excellent condition.
