Inviting aromas of lychee, citrus, vanilla, and peach tart. Clean and refreshing flavors of juicy citrus and butterscotch is balanced by a vibrant richness.
The Prisoner winemaking team works with a family of growers to source a diverse variety of grapes from premier vineyards throughout California. The resulting wines are interesting blends of distinct quality and character. In establishing their own spin on a white blend, the winemakers seek out interesting Rhône and aromatic varietals that nicely complement a classic Chardonnay base. They partner with growers dedicated to cultivating alternative varietals in their outstanding vineyard sites to create an intriguing wine with bold flavor.
This Chardonnay is a blend of Chardonnay, Roussanne, Viognier, Grenache Blanc, Marsanne and Chenin Blanc. Aged for 10 months: 85% in a combination of French and Hungarian oak barrels, 25% new, and 15% in stainless steel.
