McGuigan Black Label: Sauvignon Blanc 2017 (Australia)
Description
A full flavoured Sauvignon Blanc that exhibits superb varietal intensity, a firm acid backbone, while finishing soft and sweet with a good length of flavour. The clean, crisp characters of Sauvignon Blanc make it a perfect accompaniment to lighter style dishes.
The fruit for this wine was sourced from the Murray Darling and Riverina regions of South Eastern Australia. Each vineyard offers slightly different soils and canopy arrangements. The climate in these areas is hot with high evaporation rates and generally low rainfall, making irrigation essential. Long sunshine hours ensure the fruit ripens fully and low relative humidity results in little incidence of disease.
In the winery minimal input from the winemaker was required. So, after harvest in the cool of the evening the grapes were crushed and juice clarified prior to fermentation in stainless steel. Yeast strains were chosen to enhance the varietal fruit flavours and aromas. Whilst early bottling ensured the natural freshness of this wine was captured and ready to enjoy now.
Food Pairing: Particularly suited to seafood and fresh pasta.
