Wonders are being worked with the monastrell grape (aka mourvèdre) in Spain. This new organic red wowed us with its rich, concentrated and full-bodied palate, lively healthy blueberry-fruit flavour and stunning value. Produced by Bodegas Castaño, one of the most important wine growers in South-Eastern Spain, they are most notable for their use of the indigenous grape variety Monastrell, also known as Mouvedre or Mataro. They own over 500ha of vineyards, split into four main vineyards spread across the Yecla appelation.
