HIGHLY RECOMMENDED: EXCLUSIVE TO BLACKMARKET MEMBERS

Aroma: Rich red berries and ripe plum mingle with the subtle spicy oak.

Tasting: Raspberry and black cherry flavours abound with a touch of plum. These flavours integrate with the spicy oak and fine tannins. A long seductive finish is enjoyed.

Enjoying: This is a very approachable young Pinot Noir but will reward with careful cellaring for up to 4 years. We enjoy our Pinot Noir with lamb, veal, subtle game dishes and good cheeses.

Awarded 90/100: Bob Campbell M.W April 09

"This is a very good example of what was, for some, a challenging vintage. It is an elegant, taut Pinot Noir with that desirable quality - subtle power. Red cherry, wild herb and subtle spice flavours offer a flavour profile that I sometimes find in good young burgundy. I like the moderately tannic structure which offers hope for future development." The Lindis River is located in Central Otago, New Zealand. The region is well known for its rich gold mining history that lasted several decades in the 19th century.

Single vineyard icon

Rapaura Series is the name given to the distinctive stony soils upon which our Stoneleigh Vineyards are situated. It is from these unique soils, that this premium range of exceptional Marlborough wines takes its name.

"The 2008 vintage has provided us with quality components to blend our prestigious style of Stoneleigh Rapaura Series Pinot Noir. The combination of lighter crops, periodic summer rain and a healthy canopy going into autumn has allowed me to hang the fruit on a little later to reach maximum flavour intensity. Six clones of Pinot Noir were selected from our Stoneleigh Rapaura Road vineyard to be hand harvested, fermented and matured in French oak for twelve months. I was then able to blend between clones, oak type and age, to produce this truly integrated Stoneleigh Rapaura Series Pinot Noir"Read more »

"ATTRACTIVE SOFT MIDWEIGHT PLUMMY FRUIT"

"FRUIT DRIVEN PALATE STEADIED BY A SUPPLE STRUCTURE OF FRUIT AND OAK TANNINS"

SILVER MEDAL  TOP 50: New World Wine Awards 2009

"Classic Pinot Noir aromas of dark berries and plums are prominent in this wine, created from the best of Waimea’s 2008 barrels. A floral note of carnations adds interest and prettiness to this wine. It has a fruit driven palate steadied by a supple structure of fruit and oak tannins. This elegant Pinot Noir will reward careful cellaring, in time the fruitdriven aromas giving way to more earthy, savoury notes. Enjoy with traditional dishes such as Boeuf Bourgogne, a rack of lamb, game and mushroom based dishes." Winemakers Notes

"LEGENDARY KIWI ACTOR SAM NEILL'S PRIDE AND JOY!"

"SHOWING EXCELLENT COMPLEXITY" Michael Cooper, Buyers Guide to NZ Wines 2010

"Any cynicism that Sam Neill’s Two Paddocks venture may not be all that serious is dispelled the minute this wine unravels in the glass. A little Gibbston fruit is used to support the bounty of Neill’s Alexandra vineyard and the result is an impressive wine showing abundant dark skinned fruit, a fine herbal edge and gently gripping tannins." "WARM AND RIPE, THE NOSE IS NICELY PERFUMED DISPLAYING DARK CHERRY"

4 STARS: Sam Kim, Wine Orbit

Warm and ripe, the nose is nicely perfumed displaying dark cherry, spice and a touch of savoury mushroom characters The palate is full and rounded with soft texture and bright
acidity. It finishes pleasantly dry with fine-grained tannins. The wine is showing some mature savoury/game characters making it an ideal partner to rich, flavoursome dishes. At its best: now to 2010". Sam Kim, Wine Orbit

"PURE, CHERRY-RIPE PINOT!"

This bargain-priced Pinot comes from an estate with a track record of multi medal-winning success that is second to none. A safe bet to stock up on.

"The aroma shows sweet plum and exotic spices, typical of the variety. The oak maturation is revealed in the background aroma through hints of cedar and smoky tobacco. The palate is fresh and lively with dark plum and cherry fruits set against a mid-firm tannin structure. The wine finishes well, with a textured, nicely rounded mouthfeel and echos of the plum and dark cherry flavours of the palate."

"ONE OF THE HOTTEST, MOST SOUGHT-AFTER PRODUCERS IN THE COUNTRY"

GOLD MEDAL: Christchurch Casino Awards

GOLD MEDAL: Bragato Awards 2009

In just a few short years Rockburn have turned themselves into one of the hottest, most sought-after producers in the country, with more awards and glowing reviews than you could shake a stick at.

The 2008 vintage yielded very ripe fruit from a number of sites. The wineries “hands-off” approach delivers a pure expression of Central Otago to your glass; deeply fruited with delicate floral tones enhanced by nuances of liquorice root, and supple, silky tannins leading into a long spicy finish. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Super Classic: - Michael Cooper's Buyer's Guide to New Zealand Wines.

New Zealand's greatest and most consistent Pinot. - Nick Stock, Wine Business Monthly

Bright, succulent and ripe red fruits create an inviting first impression of this classic Ata Rangi Pinot Noir. As the wine unfolds, delicate floral aromas emerge - think of dark, velvety roses - a fitting image for a wine with such luxuriously silky textural qualities. Tannins are very fine, very supple, allowing the wine to show lovely primary fruit on the nose at this early stage. The long, long finish is laden with fruit weight and intensity that promises rewards from careful cellaring. 2008 was a very favourable vintage in Martinborough, with moderate yields and ideal temperatures and weather conditions throughout the season. -... "DELICIOUS, BARGAIN-PRICED PINOT NOIR FROM MATARIKI ESTATE"

BEST BUY: Cuisine Magazine

4 STARS: Cuisine Magazine

Awarded Best Buy and 4 Stars in last year's record-breaking Cuisine Magazine Pinot Noir tasting (242 Pinots!), this beautifully balanced Pinot has to be one of the sharpest buys of the lot.

This Pinot is Burgundian in style, spending a full 12 months in French oak barrels, and showing floral violets and summer red berries on the nose and a savoury, dried herb undertone. The palate is elegant, with no confection or 'jamminess' , cherry and wild strawberry fruit with a gentle black pepper and vanilla edge from the french oak. Long, complex and very impressive for the price.

"MARTINBOROUGH LEGEND"- Michael Cooper's Buyer's Guide to New Zealand Wines.

4 STARS: Bob Campbell MW

It's true. Ata Rangi has the Midas touch with all of its wines. - Bob Campbell MW

Sales of this now well established younger vines pinot noir support the work of Project Crimson, a charitable conservation trust established in 1990 for the protection of New Zealand's iconic native red-flowering trees - pohutukawa, and northern and southern rata.

Crimson 2008 has an enticing nose of dark cherry blended with new season raspberry and wild mulberries. Touches of smoky clove and exotic spice enhance the rich flavours of sweet red plum and black cherry that burst onto the palate. Very fine, supple tannins carry evenly right to the finish. Kiwi Classic in the making

The Camshorn vineyard, originally a suffolk sheep farm, sits sheltered from prevailing winds by hills on both sides in the small, yet diverse winegrowing area of the Waipara Valley. Gracing State Highway One, the Camshorn vineyard is a mile long and nearly as wide, and features precision planted north/south facing rows, created using laser lights, which cover north facing slopes gaining maximum light exposure.

Deep garnet red in colour, the wine has aromas of lifted black cherry and plum with subtle oak vanilla and clove spice. The palate is generous, showing wild berry and chocolate. There are notes of dried herb and lingering cracked pepper characters. The wine also shows great intensity and length of flavour. Winemakers Notes

"SEDUCTIVE AND ELEGANT ARRIVAL FROM CENTRAL OTAGO"

"God's country when it comes to Pinot" (James Halliday)

This wine displays lots of vibrant fruit from red cherry, raspberry to blackberries with a hint of spice underneath. The front palate is packed with sweet bright fruit with the same red cherries and blackberries on the nose following through to the flavours. The soft tannins give this wine lovely mid-palate weight with a dark cocoa finish. This is a vibrant, fruit driven wine that can be cellared or enjoyed in its youth. Winemakers Notes
