Description
An outstanding wine from one of NZ’s finest Riesling aficionados - exquisitely crafted and exceptionally delicious. If Riesling is your reason for living then look no further, this is GOLD.
"93pts... As delightful as ever, this consistently excellent label delivers another delicious wine. Fragrant aromas of lemon cured, floral and white nectarine lead to a beautifully weighted, finely textured palate that is focused and persistent. There is a hint of sweetness which is brilliantly countered by juicy acidity, making the wine harmonious and immediately appealing. At its best: now to 2024" Sam Kim Wine Orbit
"Bright, very pale straw colour with slight green hues. The nose is elegant and refined in presentation with tightly bound, but deep aromas of lime fruit, white florals, toast and minerally wet-stone elements. Off-dry to taste and light-medium bodied, the palate is soft and finely-textured, carrying harmoniously entwined flavours of limes, white florals, minerals and toast. The wine flows smoothly with integrated, mouthwatering acidity providing gentle energy and tension to the line. Lemon and honeysuckle elements emerge to add interest, and the wine carries to a fine, but taut finish of limes and toast. This is a very fine and soft-textured dryish Riesling with smooth flowing flavours of limes, florals and toast. Serve as an aperitif and with Asian cuisine over the next 4+ years. 70% Wairau River valley fruit, and 30% Southern Valleys fruit given skin and solids contact, as well as lees aging, the wine fermented to 12.0% alc. and 10 g/L RS, TA 7.6 g/L and pH 3.14." Raymond Chan
Mixture of fruit sourced from two distinctly different sites: Wairau and Southern Valleys. 70% sourced from older Wairau river valley, typically very stony vineyard sites. Multiple picks and fermentations, aimed at expressing purity of citrus fruit flavours, wet stone minerality and crisp acidity. 30% sourced from geologically older soils and clay of the Southern Valleys. Some skin contact with a small percentage of juice on solids, extended yeast lees and aging for textural complexity.
