Description

  • Dry style
  • Cranberry
  • Red apple
  • Fresh acidity

"It’s splendidly ripe and elegantly aromatic on the nose showing sweet strawberry, apricot, fig and lemon zest aromas, leading to a finely flowing palate that’s juicy and flavoursome. Delightfully styled with succulent fruit flavours, finishing long and refreshing. At its best: now to 2026" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Aug 2023

"Bright pink, with an attractive, freshly scented bouquet, the vigorous 2023 vintage (5*) is a single-vineyard wine grown at Pisa, in the Cromwell Basin.  Hand-harvested, it was mostly tank-fermented, but 15 per cent was handled in old oak casks. Mouthfilling, it is very youthful, with strong, vibrant watermelon, strawberry and spice flavours, appetising acidity and a basically dry (4.3 grams/litre of residual sugar) finish" Michael Cooper, Sep 2023

"A true raspberry and cherry hued appearance with a bouquet of red apple and bing-cherry, a touch of rose and raspberry flesh. Bright, fresh and youthful. On the palate a dry wine with a core of fresh red berry flavours, apple skin and fresh floral tones. A touch of stony mineral adds depth alongside a crisp and gently salivating acid line. Best drinking from late 2023 through end of summer 2025" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier, Aug 2023

"Fragrant, aromatic rosé with red rose petal, bright cherry and raspberry flavours supported by a refreshing backbone of vibrant acidity and subtle fresh herbs. Smooth-textured, full-flavoured, tangy wine. 2023-2026" Bob Campbell, Master of Wine, Real Review, Aug 2023

"Bright, even, pale raspberry pink. The nose is lush and voluminous, with aromas of ripe berries, maraschino cherries and rose petals. Medium-bodied, aromas of maraschino cherries, wild berries entwined with rose petals. The wine is packed with purity of fruit, hauled along a luminous acid line to a refreshing, dry finish" Candice Chow, Raymond Chan Reviews, Aug 2023

Our 2023 Pinot Noir Rosé has a vivid pink hue that hints at the great energy and fresh aromas that will unfold in the glass. Intensely fragrant, the floral notes and bright red fruit followed by a crisp finish sing beautifully of Central Otago Rosé. Enticing aromas of strawberry, cherry, cranberry and red apple are carried long on the palate by the fresh acidity.

The 2022-2023 growing season was relatively warm overall with a mild Winter and Spring and good weather at flowering resulting in excellent yields. January was warmer than usual which actually caused the vines to stagnate rather than accelerate, so we picked a day later than in the warmer 2022 vintage. Lower acids at lower brix allowed us to pick early and achieve a dry-style Rose with perfectly balanced alcohol. We have worked with this vineyard for the past three years and each season is our new favorite!

The Pinot Noir for the 2023 Wild Earth Pinot Noir Rosé was picked early in the season on the 23rd of March using two clones: 70% was clone 943 for freshness and acidity and the balance was clone 5 for concentration and fruit purity. This established vineyard in Pisa is a favorite of ours for growing Pinot Noir that creates Rosé that is dry, fresh and delicious, The hand-harvested grapes were left on skins for 2 days before pressing which helped extract the beautiful colour. The cool fermentation was predominately in a stainless steel tank with around 15% in neutral oak.

Food Pairing: This dry-style Rosé has amazing fruit purity that is perfectly balanced by zesty acidity making it a wonderful wine on its own and fantastic for summer BBQs and outdoor dining. With each new vintage, we set out to make a complex Rosé that is balanced and engaging – truly a kaleidoscope for the senses.
