Description

  • Fine tannins

"Sweetly ripe and beautifully fragrant on the nose with dark cherry, olive, nutmeg and floral aromas, it's juicy and nicely rounded in the mouth delivering gentle weight and silky flow. Well framed by fine tannins, offering delightful drinking. At its best: now to 2025" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Jul 2022

Now made with organic grapes this vibrant blend is expressive and fruit-driven with ripe berry aromas, darker briary notes and hints of spicy oak. The palate is fresh and spicy with seductive red berry and varietal cherry cola flavours, fine tannins and classy oak leading to very long finish.

This is a red blend of 85% Tempranillo, 10% Garnacha and 5% Shiraz grown in Manchuela (Castilla la Mancha). The vast, high and dry plains of Castilla la Mancha comprise over 50% of Spain’s vineyards. The ancient soils and high altitude ensures the richly flavoured fruit maintains structure and tannin. Vineyards planted on the slopes of mountain ranges in the north and north east add a degree of elegance to the wines.

A year with less vigour in the vineyards resulting in lesser yields but the overall quality was excellent. The overal health of the vines and the remarkable weather throughout vintage made for a memorable year in Rioja. The rains fell at the right time and the fruit ensured wel-balanced wines with good.

Totally de-stemmed with a short cold soak before a long, cool fermentation with daily pump - overs to achieve optimum fruit and colour. The core of the blend was aged in stainless steel before three months maturation in seasoned French and American oak. A component of up to ten percent of de-classified Rioja (due to volume constrainers not quality) is added to the blend three months before bottling. structure and intensity were produced.

Food Pairing: Pair with some panfried chorizo or manchego.
