Wild Folk Barossa Natural Shiraz 2024 (Australia)

An honest expression of Shiraz

An honest expression of Shiraz
Description
Blackberry, Spice
A beautifully authentic expression of Barossa Shiraz, this wine offers both vibrancy and depth. Bright crimson in colour, it opens with a fan of plum, boysenberry and mulberry fruits, alongside hints of teacake, olive tapenade, pressed flowers, coal dust, macerated summer berries, kirsch and earth. Layers of dark berries and spice are wrapped in plush, generous fruit, supported by fine, chalky tannins and a distinct savoury, earthy flow that lingers on the finish.
Wild Folk - the natural choice in wine - are pure expressions of the variety and the vineyard. Minimal intervention in the winery ensures a joyful glass of just what mother nature intended. Wild yeast fermented, no additions, vegan friendly, preservative free, unfined and unfiltered, nothing but fermented grapes at their finest.
A dry winter and spring saw vines working hard early, with an unusually early budburst in September. Spring frosts in September and October reduced yields in some vineyards, but timely rain and cooler conditions in November and December helped vines recover. Most varieties were harvested by late March, with quality consistently high despite variable yields.
A less is more regime in the vineyard and the winery has resulted in a fresher more uncompromising wine stylistically. Handpicked and sorted and then added to open fermenters before undergoing plunging. Consigned to stainless steel after fermentation this wine was bottled shortly after with little additions and was neither fined nor filtered.
Food Pairing: Drink over the next two years with your favourite charcuterie or something char-grilled on the barbecue.
