Spy Valley’s commitment remains to the land and to the people who tend it – they are simply farmers at heart, nurturing soil and vine to cultivate the complexities in their wine. And they’re mindful that it’s their focus on sustainability which will ensure their guardianship of this land for generations to come.

They’re considered a little clandestine around here, deep in the bewitching Waihope valley. Perhaps it comes with being named for their proximity to the spy base down the road, but they like a bit of mystery.

These are secrets, however, that they’ve decided it’s time to share.

Collection includes:

2 x Spy Valley Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2022

Lifted floral notes, guava, and citrus. Distinctive flavours of passionfruit and white nectarine intermingled with layers of minerality, finishing with a fresh mouth-watering acidity.

Harvested at peak flavour maturity. Gentle juice extraction, cold settled and fermented in stainless steel tanks and a portion in older oak with a range of aromatic yeasts.

2 x Spy Valley Single Estate Marlborough Pinot Gris 2021

Poached pear and spiced cloves. Full bodied with flavours of red apple and spice. Concentration of fruit shows through with a supple underlying structure that leaves the wine fresh and vibrant on the finish.

Harvested over 2 separate picks, 2 weeks apart, the juice was settled before fermentation in stainless steel tanks and larger format barrels. The batches remained on lees before final blending and left to rest in tank before preparation for bottling.

2 x Spy Valley Marlborough Chardonnay 2020

Lemon pith and citrus notes on the nose highlighted with hints of brioche. On the palate, layers of stone fruit with subtle influences of barrel fermentation balance beautifully with the creamy texture and long harmonious finish.

Harvested over 2 separate picks, fruit was gently pressed with the free run juice settling briefly before draining to French oak barrels. Barrels remained in our cellar to undergo a long slow fermentation, and natural malolactic fermentation with the separate batches being assembled 11 months after harvest. After final blending, the wine was left to rest in tank on light yeast lees for 6 weeks before preparation for bottling.
