Gorgeously rich & creamy with buttery goodness
Description
Crème brûlée, Oak, Pastry
Our 2022 Buttery Chardonnay is golden-straw in color and opens with decadent aromas. The creamy, rich buttery flavors swirl with notes of stone and tropical fruits with sweet baking spices. Oak aging creates a finish of crème brûlée and toasty brioche.
Vint is the next chapter of Robert Mondavi Private Selection. In renaming, we honor the timeless craft of winemaking that Robert Mondavi inspired. In offering varietallydriven innovations like our Spirits Barrel-Aged red wines and Buttery Chardonnay, we reinforce Robert Mondavi’s commitment to bringing wines with an incredible depth of flavor to the modern consumer.
The 2022 growing season was relatively cool through spring and summer which allowed grapes to ripen slowly and develop tropical and stone fruit characteristic with high acidity. California experienced a long harvest—August through October—due to heat spikes followed by moderate weather. Sixty percent of the grapes for our inaugural 2022 Vint Buttery Chardonnay were sourcedfrom vineyards in the Central Coast AVA where warm days and cool nights provided ideal ripening conditions for these grapes to develop complex, bright flavors while retaining acidity. The grapes were harvested at night and in the early morning to preserve ideal acidity and sugar levels.
To fully capture their fresh flavor, we whole-cluster pressed the grapes before cold-fermenting the juice in stainless steel. The blend also underwent malolactic fermentation, resulting in a rich, creamy mouthfeel and buttery taste. This buttery taste is balanced by the fruit notes imparted by the fully ripened, flavorful grapes in the blend. We then aged the wine on French oak, which adds sweet spice to the taste and finish.
Food Pairing: Enjoy this wine with roasted chicken, grilled salmon, creamy dishes, and pungent cheeses.
