- Velvety tannins
"Sweetly fruited and enticing on the nose, showing dark cherry, plum, violet, mixed spice and assorted nut aromas, leading to a succulent palate delivering silky flow and fine tannins. It's plump and soothing, offering excellent drinking. At its best: now to 2027" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Nov 2022
"Deep, ruby-red with a purple hue, lighter on the rim. The nose is softly full and open, packed with aromas of bramble and spice. Medium-full bodied, aromas of ripe bramble melded with a hint of meaty nuance, dark cocoa and spice. Lively acidity carries a soft tannin structure and lingers with oak spice and meaty nuance to a dry finish. This classic Shiraz has a smooth palate, generous succulent bramble, and a fine tannin framework. Match with lamb ribs and barbeque meat over the next 3 years" Candice Chow, Raymond Chan Wine Reviews, Feb 2023
Deep ruby with a narrow purple rim. Pronounced aromas of blackberries, cherries, mocha and chocolate. Rich, ripe and generous black fruits, complementary mocha oak, velvety tannins and a long, lingering finish.
The 2021 vintage was farily mild, with a warm Summer and ample sunshine ensuring full, ripe fruit flavours to develop.
The Benchmark range of wines are a collection to honour the 1865 pioneer, Meshach Burge and his high standard of winemaking that fostered a legacy spanning five generations.
With an unparalleled devotion to the land and more than 155 years of winemaking heritage. Grant Burge continues to craft generous, modern Australian wines. The Benchmark rage showcases the quality of South Australian wines, selecting the ideal parcels to craft bright, fruit driven and balanced wine for immediate ejoyment.
