Description
- French oak
- Dark cherry & plum
- Toasted almond
- Silky tannins
"Offering fabulous fruit purity and perfumed, the wine shows Black Doris plum, dark cherry, floral, toasted almond and subtle spice aromas on the nose. It's succulent and beautifully flowing on the palate with rounded mouthfeel and silky tannins, finishing gorgeously long and refined. At its best: 2023 to 2030" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Jun 2021
"Deep, ruby-red with a purple hue, lighter on the rim. The nose is full and enticing, filled with aromas of medicinal herbs, plums and blackberries, unfolding black pepper, barrel spice and meaty nuance. Medium-full bodied, aromatic plums, blackberries interweave black peppercorns, red liquorice and cloves; herbal nuances linger with a hint of meatiness. The palate is bright with balanced acidity, the ripeness of the fruit contributes to a lush mouthfeel. Fine-grained tannin has a chewy texture provides a light grip. This is an approachable Syrah with lush fruit and a fine-grained palate. Match with roasted lamb and sticky pork ribs over the next 5-8 years. Aged in French oak for 10 months, 30% new oak" Candice Chow, Raymond Chan Reviews, Jun 2021
Syrah is considered a thinking person’s red wine. Soft and delicate, yet rich and powerful. The Church Bay Estate Syrah can only be described as signature Waiheke Syrah.
After 15 long months in barrel, this wine delivers intense red fruit, balanced with dried herbs on the nose. An elegant palate with balanced tannins & lingering finish to warm you through the long winter nights.
