Description
Oak, Plum, Spice
"It's splendidly fragrant on the nose, showing sweet cherry, raspberry, olive, subtle spice, and almond characters. The juicy palate displays fine flow and silky texture, beautifully supported by polished tannins, finishing velvety and delectable. At its best: now to 2030" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Mar 2025
"Moderately deep ruby-red, slightly lighter on the rim. The nose is full, with aromas of black cherry, plum, dark herb and toasty oak nuance. Medium-bodied, aromas of black cherry and plum melded with dried thyme, vanilla, nutmeg and roasted coffee beans. Herbs and toasty oak details enrich the dark fruit, and lively acidity provides freshness and balance. Beetle Juice has a classic Central Otago Pinot Noir presence and is approachable and satisfying" Candice Chow, Raymond Chan Reviews, Mar 2025
"A classic Otago bouquet of savoury dried herb laced red berry fruits. Cherry and plum then a clay stony earth quality. More is revealed on the palate with layers of wood spice and dried herb, still savoury and fruity with flavours that reflect the bouquet. Medium tannin effect with a decent acid line together framing a palate of texture and length. Well made with best drinking from day of purchase through 2030" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier, Apr 2025
Ripe hand picked fruit, gentle winemaking and maturation in French oak have resulted in an attractive wine, with aromas of red cherry and spiced plum, a rich and silky smooth palate and a long spicy finish. This wine is excellent value, drinking fantastically well now and will also develop and cellar for several years.
Beetle Juice is named after the Cromwell Chafer Beetle (Prodontria lewisi). The Cromwell Chafer is a critically endangered beetle found at just one site in the world. This 81-hectare area near Wooing Tree Vineyard has been set aside as the Cromwell Chafer Beetle Nature Reserve to protect and monitor the habitat of this beetle.
