"This bright pink, attractively scented wine was grown at Pisa. Already delicious, it is very fresh, vibrant and smooth, with ripe, cherryish, plummy flavours, a bare hint of sweetness, lively acidity and a finely poised finish" Michael Cooper, Winestate Magazine, Sep 2022
"This is fabulously appealing on the nose showing sweet strawberry, crunchy apple, nectarine and rich floral aromas, followed by a succulent palate delivering excellent weight and roundness. Richer and more flavoursome than most, the wine offers terrific fruit purity and persistency. At its best: now to 2025" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Sep 2022
"I love the natural hues of red and pink that lead to a bouquet of cherry and red apple skin with a melon and tropical fruit punch scents. Silky smooth with a core of red fruit flavours that reflect the bouquet, a coll-climate acid line and flavours of minerality with a touch of fruit tannins for texture. Balanced and well made, ready for summer 2023 through summer 2024" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier, Sep 2022
"Bright, pale berry pink with depth, even colour throughout. The nose is full, with deep, rich roses overlying raspberry and strawberry and a hint of cream. Medium-bodied, intense aromas of strawberry and raspberry fill the palate, unfolding rose, citrus and a touch of cream. The fruit is vibrant and juicy with intense aromas, supported by mouth-watering acidity, flowing with good energy to a refreshing finish. This Pinot Noir Rosé is packed with red fruit, rich rose and a juicy acid line. Serve as an aperitif or match with cured meat over the next 2-3 years" Candice Chow, Raymond Chan Wine Reviews, Sep 2022
"Made from grapes grown on an elevated vineyard in Pisa, one of Central Otago’s warmer sub regions just north of Cromwell on the western side of Lake Dunstan. This wine is bright ruby with medium intensity, again made entirely from Pinot Noir and with stronger fruitier aromas of strawberries, raspberries and fresh ripe stone fruit and a slight hint of fruit sweetness" Joelle Thompson, Sep 2022
The 2022 Pinot Noir Rosé has a vibrant pink colour that hints at the great concentration and fresh aromas that will unfold in the glass. Intensely fragrant, the floral notes and bright red fruits with a creamy texture sing beautifully of "classic" Central Otago Rosé. Enticing aromas of cherry, strawberry, raspberry, rose petals and red apple are carried long on the palate by the fresh acidity. This dry-style Rosé has amazing fruit weight that is perfectly balanced by tangy acidity making it a wonderful wine.
The 2021-2022 growing season was relatively warm overall with a mild start to Spring followed by good weather at flowering resulting in excellent yeilds. The rain events in Spring and in February were welcomed and frost wasn't an issue. Lower acids at lower brix allowed them to pick early and achieve a dry-style Rosé with perfectly balanced alcohol. They thought their 2021 Rosé was the best in a decade but now believe 2022 could be even better. Back-to-back stellar seasons!
The Pinot Noir for the 2022 Wild Earth Pinot Noir Rosé was picked early in the season on the 22nd March using two clones at 50/50%: clone 5 for concentraion and fruit purity, and 943 for freshness and acidity. The established vineyard in Pisa that was selected ins a favourite of theirs for growing fruit that creates Rosé that is dry, fresh and delicious. The hand-harvested grapes were left on skins for 2 days before pressing. Plenty of pigment in the skins from a warmer season delivered a gorgeous strawberry pink hue. The cool fermentation was 100% in a stainless steel tank and the wine spent a small amount of time on fermentation lees before bottled in winter. No fining products are used to mke this wine. This wine is vegan.
Food Pairing: Wonderful on its own and fantastic for summer BBQs and outdoor dining.
