Description
Dry, Floral, Pear
"Charming and inviting, the wine shows Nashi pear, crunchy apple, rockmelon and jasmine aromas on the nose. The palate displays succulent fruit intensity together with fleshy texture and beautifully pitched acidity, finishing long and delectable" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit

Fresh, crisp and floral with lovely fruit purity and balance. An easy drinking, dry style pinot gris which sings Central Otago as clearly as the Welcome Swallow’s twittering, chattering call.
The Welcome Swallow gained its name as its appearance heralds the start of Spring. Sunshine and rainfall in the 2024 season were in line with long-term averages across the region. The flowering period was stable, warm and dry delivering an excellent fruit set, with cooler early autumn conditions allowing a lovely balance of acidity.
Often seen darting around the southern lakes and rivers, the Welcome Swallow is known for its penchant to twitter and catch a sip on the fly. Inspired by this swift and graceful bird, Fast Flying Wines Limited, a family owned Central Otago winery, is proud to introduce this pinot gris to the Welcome Swallow range.
Food Pairing: With or without food, this vibrant and delicate pinot gris is perfect for enjoying with a flock or when flying solo. Enjoy with fish, chicken or spicy thai-style dishes.
