Jonah Pinot Gris is from a single vineyard in Bendigo, Central Otago. Made in a dry and refreshing style, it offers fine aromatics and delicious fruity and citrus flavours on the palette. This harmonious wine’s mineral notes bring us to the tale of journey and discovery and a salty whale from legends past.
The Pinot Gris is sourced from 20-year-old vines in the Bendigo terraces, which have been cropped at lower yields (5 tonnes per hectare) to enhance the concentration of flavours and aromas. The grapes are pressed on delivery to the winery, settled overnight and then experience a cool ferment in an old oak puncheon (10%) and the remainder in stainless steel. The two components are blended post ferment giving an aromatic, slightly textural wine with a fresh palate that exudes ripe citrus, crunchy pear and has great drive: showing the intense focus of a cooler growing season.
