"Elegantly complex and enticing, the bouquet shows ripe stone fruit, rockmelon, vanilla and roasted hazelnut aromas with a hint of brioche. The palate delivers excellent weight and silky mouthfeel, wonderfully complemented by finely infused oak nuances. Delectably appealing and fabulously drinkable. At its best: now to 2026" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Oct 2023
Warm aromas of ginger and spice, this Chardonnay has powerful and enticing flavors of ripe nectarine with a fresh tropical snap on the finish.
Our 2022 Vintage W5 Chardonnay was sourced from vineyards within the Awatere and Rapaura sub regions in Marlborough. The fruit was monitored consistently throughout the growing season and machine harvested once the grapes reached optimum ripeness.
At the winery, each parcel was fermented separately in temperature-controlled vessels. The wine sat on lees for three months, adding complexity to the body. At this stage, the wine underwent a second fermentation, crafting a rich and textural mouthfeel.
Food Pairing: At it best for the next three years, this wine will pair beautifully with a cooked chicken, mushroom and leek pie.
