Villa Maria Private Bin Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2025
A consistently classic Marlborough style
A consistently classic Marlborough style
Description
Dry, Grapefruit, Lemon
"There’s no mistaking the varietal impact with a bouquet of fresh apples and tropical fruits, some sweet hay and wet stone mineral qualities. Just dry on the palate with a crisp salivating mouthfeel, repeating core fruit flavours and balanced even finish. A wine to just crack open and drink. Best from 2025 through January 2027" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier
Villa Maria Private Sauvignon Blanc always combines the best of both sub-regions for a consistently classic Marlborough style. Initially, the cool climate Awatere aromas jump out of the glass, displaying lime, lemongrass, and fresh herbs. In contrast, the warmer Wairau Valley vineyards produce heady aromatics reminiscent of grapefruit and tropical fruit flavours. The wine is focused, with a lip-smacking acidity that leads to a long and lingering finish.
The 2025 vintage in Marlborough was characterised by bumper crops and settled weather, allowing for slow, even ripening across the region. These ideal conditions have produced elegant wines with remarkable purity, vibrant aromatics, and a fresh, balanced palate.
Once at optimal ripeness, the grapes are harvested and gently pressed. The clear juice is fermented at cool temperatures using select yeast strains to promote bright aromas and crisp flavour. The individual components are precisely blended before finishing, ready to bottle in its youth to capture freshness.
Food Pairing: A perfect aperitif wine, serve chilled on warm summer days. Fresh herbal flavours match well with most salads, wheres the riper tropical flavours match well with any fish or chicken recipes.
