Capturing the essence of Marlborough
Capturing the essence of Marlborough
Description
Dry, Herbal, Passionfruit
"This is instantly appealing on the nose with kiwifruit, grapefruit, apricot and lime zest aromas. The palate delivers terrific fruit power and persistency, combined with juicy acidity, finishing wonderfully long and delicious. At its best: now to 2026" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Mar 2024
Capturing the essence of Marlborough, this Cellar Selection Sauvignon Blanc is a blend of selected vineyards from the key sub regions within Marlborough. Pungent aromas of passionfruit, citrus and fresh herb lead into a juicy palate bursting with zesty grapefruit and rockmelon, with a round weighty finish carried by crisp acidity.
Low frost pressure at bud burst and ample soil moisture from Winter rains helped to deliver healthy crop levels and lush canopies to drive ripening. A cooler than average start to the growing season resulted in thick skins carrying the building blocks of what would become intense aromas and rich texture. The weather settled into a long period of warm days and cool nights, allowing for picking at optimal ripeness.
The Sauvignon Blanc grapes for this Cellar Selection wine were harvested in the cool of night and early monthing to protect the aromatics. After pressing and settling, the clear juice was inoculated using select yest strains to promote vibrant aromatics and crisp flavour. After a period of time on lees to build texture and mouthfeel, the wine was gently fined and filtered before bottling.
Food Pairing: This wine pairs beautifully with fresh seafood, chicken or crisp Summer salads.
