Description
Cherry, Oak, Tobacco
"A very enticing bouquet with dark plums and baked raspberry scents, there’s a layer of smoky wood spices and baked goods, velvet rose and blackcurrant. Delicious on the palate, dry and fruit centric with a frame of tannins and acidity around the fruit flavours that reflect the bouquet. An excellent mouthfeel and palate squeeze, lengthy and well made. Best drinking from day of purchase through 2029. Fabulous value for this quality" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier, Dec 2024
"Charming and elegantly fragrant, the wine shows sweet cherry, olive, cured meat, warm spice, and toasted almond characters. The finely expressed palate offers juicy fruit intensity with savoury nuances, beautifully supported by refined texture and polished tannins, finishing complex and persistent. At its best: now to 2033" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Dec 2024
This wine displays a bright boysenberry aroma with lifted cherry, blue berry fruits, and an earthy forest floor character, with a hint of wild thyme and black olives. The palate is elegantly structured with a satisfyingly chalky texture, good depth, and an elegant and focused finish.
Grapes were organically grown on the steep slopes of our high density planted Brookby Hill Vineyard in the Southern Valleys of Marlborough.
This year’s harvest stands out as one of the best in the past decade allowing for perfect harvest conditions. The Indian Summer, followed by a cooler autumn, allowed for an even, slower ripening period, producing lightly concentrated fruit with distinctive flavours. A cool February resulted in this year’s wines having expressive aromatics, great energy, and good structure on the palate, leading to a long, persistent finish.
The grapes were hand picked and underwent wild fermentation, with 15% whole-bunch for an increased lift in aromatics and structure. The wine was then aged in 4,500L French oak cuves for 10 months. Unfiltered and Unfined.
