"How excellent to see Cabernet Franc as the feature variety in a blend from this part of the New Zealand. A fragrant bouquet with scents of crushed violets then blackberry fruits, wood spice and smoke and bracken, dried herb and stone. There’s an exotic side to this wine with the idea of cacao and clove, a gentle peppercorn quality and black cherry. A dry wine touches the palate with an immediate concentration of fruit and flavours that have melted together forming a complex and detailed expression. The voice of the Franc is strong with the olive, dried herb and blackberry flavours. 'The beauty of Cabernet Franc is complemented by the sophistication and rustic character of Tempranillo. Complex aromas of brambly blackcurrants, plums and coffee grounds intermingled with hints of dried herbs, chocolate and sweet spices. The palate is intense and generous, framed with fine-grained tannins and juicy acidity, which combine to produce a succulent, supple, textural wine with the structure and capacity to develop further complexity over the next 10-20yrs.
