Description

Apricot, Dry, Floral

"Charming and attractively fruited, the elegant bouquet shows apricot, rockmelon, green pear and white floral aromas, followed by a silky-smooth palate displaying bright fruit flavours with supple texture and juicy acidity. Beautifully rounded and immediately appealing" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Dec 2022

"Varietal and ripe fruit scented bouquet with aromas of pears and yellow apples, some spice and lees layers adding a complexity and detail. Off-dry with a note of sweetness and core fruit flavours of white fleshed fruits. There’s a gentle spice quality with a hint of ginger. Balanced, youthful, well made and ready with best drinking form 2022 through 2026" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier, Dec 2022

Ripe Nashi pears are complemented by exotic aromas of sweet spices (think cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg), rose water and spicy glacè ginger. The wine is rich and opulent in the mouth with a soft, mouthcoating texture balanced by refreshing acidity.

The Woodstock Vineyard is a cooler, later-ripening site that allows grapes to develop maximum aroma and flavour while preserving natural acidity. The fruit was harvested when the balance between ripeness and freshness was deemed optimal.

Winemaking was strongly focused on enhancing the perfumed/spicy aromatics and delivering the balance and texture so crucial to good quality Pinot Gris. The fruit was given some skin contact before being gently pressed and the juice barrel fermented in old 500-litre French oak puncheons. A small amount of residual sugar was retained to balance the acidity and the wine bottled early to capture its youthfulness and vitality.

Food Pairing: Excellent persistence of flavour, and a lingering spicy finish, ensure the wine is satisfying either on its own, or partnered with a wide range of foods, particularly Asian-inspired dishes.
