Description

Cranberry, Dry, Floral

"Delightful and charming, the inviting bouquet shows watermelon, sweet strawberry, apricot and floral aromas, leading to a finely flowing palate that's beautifully rounded and refreshing. Elegant and fabulously drinkable. At its best: now to 2026" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Aug 2024

"A bright, saturated pink colour that exudes joy and a nose full of sunkissed fresh ripe strawberries. The palate is vibrant and fruity with the hint of sweetness present sitting in perfect balance with the taut acid line that runs the length of this energetic wine" Cuisine Magazine

"A bright, soft pink hue leads to a bouquet and palate of fresh red cherries and strawberries with a fresh apple and lick of tropical fruits qualities. Crisp, superfine chalky textured tannins, plenty of acidity and freshness with flavours that reflect the bouquet. A delicious example with best drinking from 2024 through end of summer 2026" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier, Nov 2024

A delicate pale pink in the glass, this fruit-driven Pinot Noir Rosé displays aromas of cranberry with bright floral notes. On the palate fresh fig and cantaloupe combine with subtle ripe summer strawberries and cream. Finely balanced with soft phenolics and just a hint of sweetness, this vibrant and fresh Rosé has a wonderfully long, luscious and persistent finish.

The beautiful Nelson grape growing region, located at the top of the South Island of New Zealand, boasts high sunshine hours, a moderating coastal climate and a range of aspects and soils that make it one of the most diverse growing areas in the country. Our Whenua Matua vineyard is characterised by gentle, rolling hills of clay soil with interwoven layers of gravel. The predominately north facing hillsides and warm climate provide ideal growing conditions for Pinot Noir.

The start of the 2023/2024 growing season was marked by a few very cold nights, with the region experiencing a rare frost event. The following dry and warm summer and autumn months provided a dream run for the vineyard team, with pristine fruit harvested on the 6th March 2024.

Pinot Noir grapes sourced from our beautiful Whenua Matua vineyard located in Upper Moutere, Nelson, were gently machine harvested and then carefully crushed at the winery to extract only the purest juice with minimal colour uptake from the skins. The juice was fermented at low temperatures with selected yeast strains that allow the wine to retain freshness and vitality. Once fermented meticulous blending trials were carried out to create a wine with the perfect balance and length. The resulting blended wine was then settled and stabilised before being bottled, without the need for additional fining, in mid-July 2024.
