Description

Apple, Dry, Spice

"A lovely wine with a satin-cream mouthfeel, a lick of white spice and flavours of red apple and pear, a touch of fresh quince and citrus. Medium weighted with plenty of acidity and fruit weight, balanced and well made with a leesy spice quality on the finish. Best drinking from 2025 through 2027" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier, Mar 2025

    Scale_1 - Black Market

"Charming and inviting, the elegant bouquet shows Nashi pear, rockmelon, Gala apple, and floral aromas, leading to a silky palate that's juicy and rounded. Beautifully styled and immediately appealing. At its best: now to 2027" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Feb 2025

Waipara enjoys a warm and dry climate with high sunshine hours and a long growing season. Perfectly suited to producing Pinot Gris with pristine flavours whilst retaining good natural acidity. This highly aromatic Pinot Gris displays vibrant aromas of exotic fruit, fresh pear, apples and ripe rockmelon with hints of ginger spice. A textural wine with balance and weight, best enjoyed young.

Fruit for this wine was sourced from the Waiata Vineyard located in the Waipara winegrowing region. Grown on the famous Glasnevin soils that are unique to this region.

After a superb growing season, the grapes were harvested in March and lightly pressed to tank. The clear juice was then inoculated with cultured yeast strains and fermented at cool temperatures to help capture the fresh fruit flavours. The wine spent an extended time on its yeast lees and some residual sugar was left to give a textural and balanced wine. Gentle fining and careful filtration followed before bottling.

Food Pairing: Seafood, white meats or Goats Cheese.
