Thornbury Gisborne Chardonnay 2024
A creamy & textural wine with lovely harmony
A creamy & textural wine with lovely harmony
Description
Apricot, Cream, Oak
Aromas of cassis, mulberries, and blackcurrants dominate the nose, immersing you in a world of dark and enticing fruits. The fragrance is further enhanced by the presence of mulberry leaf, lending an herbal freshness to the bouquet. Subtle earthy notes add depth and complexity, creating a sense of connection to the land. A delicate hint of bay leaf adds a touch of savoury allure, contributing to the overall aromatic tapestry.
The fruit for this wine is from vineyards located across Gisborne. The clay loam soils provide optimal conditions for ripening Chardonnay. These vineyards are ideally suited to producing fruit forward, lush and richly styled Chardonnay.
The grapes from the individual blocks were picked at optimum ripeness. The juice was lightly pressed and run to tank for fermentation. Matured for 4 months in tank with oak before blending. The wine was regularly lees-stirred in tank to provide texture and mouthfeel.
Food Pairing: Enjoyable on its own or pair with roast chicken or pan-fried snapper.
