Attractively ripe & elegantly fragrant
Wine Orbit
Description
Oak, Pineapple, Vanilla
"Yellow with golden hues lead to a bouquet of peaches and creamy vanilla scents, pineapple and banana then wood spice and a touch of stony earth-smoke. On the palate a wine with a satin-cream touch then contrasting acid line, flavours of peach and apple, there’s a lactic yoghurt quality then vanilla and a touch of lees . Textured, balanced and well made with best drinking from day of purchase through 2029" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier, Jul 2025
"Attractively ripe and elegantly fragrant on the nose, with notes of ripe stone fruit, rockmelon, Gala apple, and subtle vanilla, followed by a beautifully rounded palate offering succulent fruit flavours backed by bright acidity, making it delightfully drinkable. At its best: now to 2027" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Jun 2025
The Tahuna Reserve Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay, produced by Sileni, bursts with juicy citrus and ripe stone fruit, layered with subtle almond, hazelnut, and gentle toasty oak. The palate is smooth and balanced, finishing long and fresh. Serve lightly chilled. Enjoy now or cellar for up to six years.
Tahuna captures New Zealand’s wild beauty-forged by crystal rivers, golden sands, rolling hills, and rugged peaks. From the sunlit vineyards of Hawke’s Bay (39° south), Marlborough and Nelson (41° south), each bottle reflects over 2,000 hours of sunshine, revealing radiant fruit and pure, vibrant flavour.
Chardonnay is sourced from Sileni’s Hawke’s Bay vineyards with a range of soil types including gravels, silt and clay loam. The different characteristics of these sites provide depth and complexity of flavour in the wines.
Tahuna chardonnay is harvested and pressed, then fermented with French oak to develop complex layers of flavour in a traditional Burgundian style. Following primary and malolactic fermentation, ageing on yeast lees was carried out to mature and soften the wine prior to bottling.
