Tahbilk The Tower Marsanne 2024 (Australia)
A beautifully balanced expression
A beautifully balanced expression
Description
Dry, Floral, Lime
This beautifully balanced release expresses notes of lemon and lime with a touch of jasmine, all highlighted by an intense palate of citrus and stone fruits on a fresh mineral finish.
Established in 1860, Tahbilk Estate is one of Australia’s most beautiful and historic properties situated in the Nagambie Lakes region of Central Victoria. Francois Coueslant - winemaker at Tahbilk from 1877 - is remembered for his extensive writing on viticulture as well as his design of the now iconic pagoda - style lookout tower. Built in 1882, Tahbilk’s iconic tower played an integral role to early winemaking, gravity feeding the crushed grapes to the fermenters and cellars below. It also provided a point of elevation in an otherwise flat landscape from which vineyard workers and their supervisors could be observed. The winery has been proudly carbon balanced since 2012, promoting sustainable farming alongside the production of exceptional quality wines.
The 2024 season resulted in the whites and reds ripening at the same time, which brought the organised chaos of vintage once again, upon the winery. The first pick was on the 12th February, and the last on the 21st March, so a speedy six weeks saw everything into the winery. Yields were slightly below average, but the fruit quality was good. Overall 2024 vintage was considered a very good year for the whites, and outstanding for a select parcel of the reds. You’ll be able to enjoy the outcomes for yourself - the results of another challenging but always rewarding season.
Tahbilk’s Marsanne vineyards grow deep in sandy loam soils deposited by a former watercourse of the Goulburn River many centuries ago. Tahbilk Estate has the world’s largest single holding of the varietal and produces Marsanne from vines established in 1927, which are amongst the oldest in the world. The wine was cold fermented in a stainless steel tank under strict temperature control with minimal skin contact to maximise flavour and freshness.
Food Pairing: An ideal match to your favourite seafood dish or spicy Asian cuisine.
