A scrumptious Marlborough Chardonnay

Grapefruit, Honeycomb, Oak
Hay, toasted nuts, honeycomb, melon, cream, golden grapefruit and daffodil. Straw, white peach, lime, yellow apple, oyster shell, iodine and steely minerality. A textural wine with linear acidity.
The 2024 Stoneweaver Chardonnay is sourced from vines in the Central Wairau Valley. The soils are a lighter loam over underlying gravel. 2024 started a little unsettled during flowering, however this led to smaller yields with great concentration of flavour. A long warm summer with drought-like conditions resulted in excellent quality fruit.
The grapes were hand harvested, whole bunch pressed and underwent wild fermentation in old and 16% new French oak barrels for 10 months before bottling.
Food Pairing: Cheese and walnut tart, white fish in batter, crumbs or cream chicken and tarragon pie.
