St Hugo Barossa Shiraz 2020 (Australia)
A superb example of classic Barossa Shiraz
A superb example of classic Barossa Shiraz
Description
- American & French oak
- Mulberry & plum
- Rosemary & olive
- Supple finish
"Famous name and famously cellar-worthy, if you can keep your hands off it long enough. Shiraz sourced from several growers across the region and matured in French and American oak for 18 months. There is a distinct framework of fine, ripe sandy tannin from which the pure dark berry and plum fruit hang dusted with spice and violets, dark chocolate and earthen tones appearing last. It looks great now but will look as good or better in a decade. Either way, it’s a classic style from a strong vintage" Halliday Wine Companion, Aug 2023
"Ink black core into a deep purple rim. Nose of mulberry, rosemary and iodine. Solid core of dark berry fruit, weighty but has a well defined tannin structure to control the weight. Builds complexity, notes of dry herbs and cured meats fill the middle and back palate. If flows quite long to a dry and supple finish" Stuart Knox, Real Review, Jun 2022
A superb example of classic Barossa Shiraz. Bold, full-flavoured and complex, it offers great depth and silky tannins. Magnificent drinking now but will reward medium-term cellaring. Dense, deep purple with vibrant crimson hues Dense, dark fruits of plum and olive, fine boned tannins with fully immersed barrel complexity.
