Beautifully plush & rounded

Description

Oak, Plum, Spice

Ruby garnet hue in the glass. Complex, savoury nose with ripe red fruits and spices. Rich palate of ripe red/black fruits and mocha flavours. Round plush tannins coat the mouth giving lovely weight and length.

Sourced from three vineyards across Central Otago and a small amount from a vineyard in North Canterbury. Harvested: 8 and 24 April 2021.

Warm spring conditions resulted in steady growth with flowering early-December. The new year brought both rain and snow leaving a dusting on the ranges, but thankfully warm, dry weather followed through to harvest resulting in perfectly ripe fruit. Veraison took place at the beginning of February and harvest commenced in April.

Fermented with the natural yeast from the vineyard and winery in open top fermenters for 15-28 days. Aged in barrel with 25% new oak for 12 months, then aged in wood and concrete for a further 8 months prior to bottling in December 2022.
