Blackberry, Oak, Vanilla

Black-purple with a violet rim edge. Savoury blackberries and blueberries and cranberries. Musk, cinnamon, sage and a small cigar box only rarely drawn upon in a quiet study seldom visited. Grip, texture, tannins - and floodingly so, as cabernet can (and should?) be. A long aftertaste. Rich and giving dark and bright berry fruits linger constantly in the background. A pert and upright and also dignified red wine, thanks to the fresh and cleansing acidity that whisks its way through at palate’s end. Dangerously drinkable.

A rather rustic beef pie - big pieces of stewing beef - with mushrooms and Dijon mustard. This wine and this food would transform a quiet Saturday luncheon when no one is available or all the trains have gone on strike and the barometer is dropping hectopascal after hectopascal.

Sister’s Run is serious fun. Our talented young winemaker Elena Brooks wears steel cap work boots every day of course, but carries a pair of high heels in back of the ute for emergencies, like last minute invitations to accept trophies at wine show dinners!

Returning from a ‘knees-up’ mid vintage, Elena managed to kick off one high heel and slip back into a boot, just as the cellar crew cried out, ‘Run Sister Run!’. At that moment ; both our winemaker and label took flight!

Sister’s Run has a fierce commitment to making the best wines we can from family vineyards. We don’t take ourselves as seriously as we take our wines, we simply agree with Elena, “The truth is in the vineyard but the proof is in the glass.
