Sherwood Estate Stoney Range Waipara Valley Chardonnay 2025
Typical Waipara Valley Chardonnay
Typical Waipara Valley Chardonnay
Description
Cream, Oak, Peach
Abundant sunshine from this year has allowed the citrus fruit flavours to complement the light oak in a medium bodied style. A refreshing full flavoured Chardonnay that can be enjoyed on any occasion.
These wines are expressive with stunning fruit concentration and a character that reflects the soils and purity of the environment in which the grapes are grown. Stoney Range wines are classic with a modern twist and immediately enjoyable.
Grown on our Glasnevin vineyard from spur pruned vines. Fermentation was in small oak barrels as well as stainless steel using indigenous yeasts. Once the fermentation finished the wine was left to mature on full yeast lees for seven months without any malolactic conversion.
While in barrels and tanks the wine is constantly hand stirred keeping the yeast cells in suspension, this is done to add a creamy character to the wine that is often found in good Chardonnays. The resulting wine is medium bodied with balanced acid and fruit tannins. Rich citrus and peach flavours complement a smooth dry finish.
Food Pairing: Creamy vegetarian egg plant with bean pie or a saucy rich chicken or pork dish.
