Description
Cherry, Mocha, Oak
"This wine is elegant and refined. Its fragrant bouquet features notes of dark cherry, raspberry, clove, violet, and roasted almonds. The palate offers a burst of juicy fruit flavour, a rich, velvety texture, and well-integrated tannins, culminating in a long, smooth finish. Beautifully balanced, showcasing finesse and harmony. At its best: now to 2036" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, May 2026
"Perfumed, pretty aromas of black cherry, raspberry and bramble roses are generously seasoned with cinnamon and mocha notes. The fruit-driven palate is light to mid-weight yet tangy and refreshing with a burst of acidity lifting the ripe berry flavours onto the fine bed of dusty tannins. A satisfying earthy olive and dried thyme complexity linger as hints of plum and prune settle into the finish. Enjoy this well-balanced pinot noir over the coming years as it gains more breadth and layers" Stephen Wong, Master of Wine, The Real Review, Jan 2026
The 2024 vintage yielded beautiful fruit from each of Rockburn's Parkburn (85%) and Gibbston Back Road (15%) vineyards. A "hands off" approach delivers a pure expression of Central Otago to the glass. Expressive nose of plum, black cherry and tasty oak. A deeply fruited and rich mocha palate, supple and silky with a long finish. As always, the wine shows classic Rockburn elegance, integrity and balance.
Food Pairing: Roast meats (pork, chicken), hard cheeses, mushrooms and earthy root vegetables. Enjoy with friends over the next 10-15 years.
