Description
Floral, Off-dry, Pear
"It's finely scented on the nose with nuances of green pear, crunchy apple, lemon peel, and white flowers. The palate delivers excellent weight and a silky flow, beautifully framed by well-pitched acidity, with a persistent, elegant finish. At its best: now to 2031" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, May 2026

"An excellent bouquet and palate, ripe and varietal with core flavours of quince and green pear, apples and a cool-climate white spice seam. Dry on the palate with a decent acid line and leesy mealy qualities framing flavours of pomaceous fruits and a gentle saline touch to the finish. Well made, lengthy and well made. A lovely example to drink on its own or alongside food. Best drinking from day of purchase through 2029" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier, May 2026
Nashi pear, lemon meringue, honeydew melon. Bright pear and citrus on entry, supple textures with a fine spine of acidity, a long creamy finish featuring crème brûlée and nutmeg.
The Rockburn Central Otago Pinot Gris 2025 captures the essence of its cool-climate origins, with fruit sourced from the high-altitude Gibbston sub-region. Known for its slower ripening season, Gibbston delivers grapes with vibrant acidity and expressive fruit character — think juicy pear, white nectarine, and subtle citrus blossom.
For this 2025 vintage, our winemaking team has pushed the wine, introducing a touch more skin contact to bring added depth, texture, and a delicate blush of colour. The result is a Pinot Gris with lifted aromatics, generous palate weight, and a whisper of tannin — a subtle nod to its textural ambition.
Food Pairing: This makes for an incredibly food-friendly style, with a chameleon-like ability to match a wide range of cuisines, from fresh seafood and spicy Asian fare to richer poultry and pork dishes. While it’s already drinking beautifully now, this Pinot Gris has the structure and balance to reward those with patience, evolving gracefully over the next few years.
