Our 2023 Buttery Chardonnay is golden straw in color and opens with decadent aromas of ripe pineapples, sweet milk tart, and crème brûlée. It offers rich, creamy flavors of custard pie, graham cracker, and vanilla bean, with notes of toasted oak and baking spices leading into a lingering finish.
The 2023 vintage was a relatively cool growing season through spring and summer. As harvest began in late September, consistent moderate-to-cool temperatures remained. The cooler weather throughout the season resulted in harvest stretching into the second week of November. The cooler temperatures and long, slow ripening of the 2023 vintage allowed for white grapes to maintain their natural acidity and fully express their aromatics and flavors before being picked. The result is beautiful wines showcasing the best California has to offer.
To fully capture their fresh flavor, we whole-cluster pressed the grapes before cold-fermenting the juice in stainless steel. The blend also underwent malolactic fermentation, resulting in a rich, creamy mouthfeel. We then aged the wine for seven months in French oak.
