Description
Blackcurrant, Cherry, Oak
Medium purple-red. Red Knot Shiraz displays rich aromas of blackberry, cassis and dark chocolate. Aromas of blackcurrant, cherry, milk chocolate, cola and a hint of polished cedar lift from the glass. Fresh summer berries flow through the medium-weight palate, focused by the satiny tannins into a long finish.
Red Knot wines are crafted from grapes grown in the McLaren Vale region of South Australia. A true reflection of the region's unique terroir, which is characterised by its warm Mediterranean climate, proximity to the sea and award-winning wines.
McLaren Vale had good winter, and early spring rains were followed by a generally dry and temperate growing season. Good flowering conditions, particularly for the later ripening varieties, resulted in higher berry numbers per bunch. Canopies developed well and were balanced to slightly above-average yields. Slow and steady ripening, without excessive heat events resulted in superb varietal fruit intensity with balanced natural acidity and fine tannin structures.
Overall, 2022 was one the coolest ripening periods with very good spring rains and a cooler summer. This allowed for slow flavour enhancement. Good subsoil moisture allowed the fruit to grow in perfect condition with no raisoning of berries.
Food Pairing: Best paired with filet mignon or rosemary infused lamb shank.
