AWARDED 95/100 POINTS: Decanter World Wine Awards 2020
"Grand generosity, showcasing deep, vigorous dark forest fruit and an appetising blackcurrant freshness within juicy and fabulously-integrated tannins. Lovely, boisterous and rich in fruit. Bravo!" Decanter World Wine Awards 2020
2 x Chateau du Cartillon Haut-Medoc 2016 (France)
AWARDED GOLD MEDAL: Lyon, 2018
AWARDED 94/100 POINTS: James Suckling, 2020
AWARDED 92/100 POINTS: Wine Enthusiast, 2020
AWARDED 91/100 POINTS: Neil Martin, The Wine Advocate, 2020
AWARDED 91/100 POINTS: Vinous Media, 2020
"Dense, rich and powerful with lots of ripe fruit and spices. Hints of dried flowers. Full and flavorful. Really well done this year. Best ever?" James Suckling, 2020
"The 2016 Chateau du Cartillon has a lifted, perfumed, quite floral bouquet that leans more towards red rather than black fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with supple ripe black fruit, hints of sage and clove, fine grip in the mouth with a fresh, slightly tarry, tobacco finish. That'll do nicely—one of the best wines I have tasted from this Haut-Médoc" Neil Martin, The Wine Advocate, 2020
2 x Chateau Bourdieu Blaye Cotes de Bordeaux No.1 2019 (France)
AWARDED GOLD MEDAL: Gilberts & Gaillard, 2020
AWARDED GOLD MEDAL: Decater World Wine Awards, 2020
AWARDED 95/100 POINTS: Decanter World Wine Awards, 2020
AWARDED 93/100 POINTS: Chris Kissack, The Wine Doctor, 2020
AWARDED 92/100 POINTS: Antonio Galloni, Vinous, 2020
What a Find!! Chateau Bourdieu dates back to 1464. Located on Bordeaux’ Right Bank in the Cotes de Blaye region. The estates vineyards have a mixture of clay, limestone and gravel soils. Ideal for Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. The estate covers 180 acres and the vines average a mature 35 years of age.
"Pristine definition of pure and driving damson, cherry and plum, with understated vanilla oak. Deep and long, the palate reveals a cascade of fleshy black fruits over ripe, fine-grained tannins and fruit-bonded acidity. Lovely stuff" Decanter World Wine Awards, 2020
"The 2019 No. 1 is a soft, plush wine with no hard edges and plenty of appeal. Inky dark cherry, plum, crème de cassis, mocha, chocolate, sweet French oak and espresso all run through this sumptuous, racy Côtes de Blaye. The is a dramatic, exotic and virile, with tons of personality" Antonio Galloni, Vinous, 2020
