Description

Oak, Plum, Spice

Deep crimson in colour with a fresh purple rim. Rich and fragrant with abundant satsuma plum, dusty cedar notes and blue and red berries. The palate is all about a balance between texture and mouthfeel, with rich ripe plums dark red fruits and a pure ruited long savoury finish.

Named after Eight Songs for a Mad King, one of Peter and Margaret Lehmann's favourite vocal ensemble works, Eight Songs Shiraz is a celebration of artistry, craftsmanship and the enduring grower relationships that have defined Peter Lehmann Wines for generations.

The 2022 vintage brings together exceptional fruit from some of the Barossa's oldest, low-yielding vineyards. Long-standing grower families, including the Grope Family (Light Pass), Simon Hahn (Nuriootpa), Peter Scholz (Light Pass), Obbiettivo (Rosedale) and Ruediger Petrov (Light Pass) continue the partnerships Peter established more than four decades ago, producing a benchmark expression of Barossa Shiraz. Following a mild, slow-ripening season, the wine was matured for 14 months in French oak hogsheads (40% new) to build complexity while preserving fruit purity.

Food Pairing: Enjoy with chargrilled meats and vegetables, or pair with charcoal-roasted Abrolhos Island scallops, yuzu beurre blanc and fresh chives for a memorable dining experience.
