Silky, finely balanced supple tannins & a rich lingering finish
Silky, finely balanced supple tannins & a rich lingering finish
Description
Cherry, Oak, Spice
Intense aromas if ripe plum and dark cherry are layered with underlying notes of warm spice and berry compote. The palate is smooth and refined, with beautifully integrated tannins and a lingering, generous finish. Enjoy now, or cellar up to 2 years.
Journey into the wildflowers, a secret world between the vines, where insects dance from petal to stem, a flourishing ecosystem amongst the rows. It’s all part of the bigger picture to protect our vines and keep pests away naturally. So as you’re busy enjoying this wine, remember our little friends between the flowers who help us to do things both differently, and beautifully.
Vintage 2024 in Hawke’s Bay delivered warm, dry conditions with cool nights, creating rich, concentrated Merlot with balanced acidity. Slightly reduced yields gave way to excellent quality and depth. The fruit is sourced from a vineyard in Maraekakaho, set on ancient river terraces with sandy, volcanic soils. Warm days and cool nights allow for slow, even ripening, producing fruit with vibrant flavour, balanced acidity, and fine structure—true to Hawke’s Bay’s distinctive terroir.
Low-yield Merlot was de-stemmed into mixed fermenters and warm-fermented with regular pump-overs for balance and elegance. After skin contact to build structure, it was pressed, settled, and racked to stainless steel for malolactic fermentation. Following aging with various oak contact, the wine was blended, stabilised, filtered, and bottled.
Food Match: Enjoy with grilled red meats, hearty mushroom dishes or dark chocolate.
