Description

Blueberry, Cherry, Oak

"This is fabulously expressed on the nose, showing dark plum, dried herb, game and assorted nut aromas. The palate is equally attractive, delivering succulent fruit intensity with plump mouthfeel, finishing long and delectable. Beautifully styled and harmonious with layers of complex flavours. At its best: now to 2034" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Apr 2024

A fragrant bouquet of dark cherry and blackberry fruits, with subtle notes of red licorice, black olive and savoury characters. This wine shows great fruit weight and generosity, abundant with plush dark fruits and balanced by velvety tannins a long finish.

The historic 'Ingleburne' homestead marks the spot for Penny's Hill Estate located at the heart of McLaren Vale. Since 1988, the family owned winery has sourced fruit from its estate-grown vineyards and is renowned for producing exceptional wines from premium vineyards.

Planted in 1991 and integrated into the Penny's Hill estate vineyard group in 1993, Malpas Road, named after the pioneering Malpas family, thrives in the 'Bay of Biscay' district. The four-acre Merlot patch on the cracking. grey-black soil benefits from fissures that naturally limit root growth, promoting quality. Planted with D3V14 clone, the vines stand on their own roots, showcasing the vineyard's commitment to quality grape production since its inception.

The grapes were destemmed and crushed and cold soaked for 48 hours, then open fermented on skins for 10 days. Secondary fermentation was completed in a combination of French oak barriques between 1 and 5 years old. The wine matured for 14 months before blending and bottling in October 2023.
