A complete & harmonious vintage

Description

  • French oak
  • Plum & cherry
  • Floral notes
  • Silky & supple

"Gorgeously ripe and enticing, the bouquet shows sweet cherry, toasted nut, mushroom and subtle spice aromas. It's succulent and finely layered on the palate offering excellent fruit purity and persistency, together with silky mouthfeel and fine tannins. Splendidly styled and highly enjoyable" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Nov 2019

Deep, medium ruby, lighter around the edges. Open and expressive on the nose, with a summery array of cherry, mirabelle plum and sage, with complex notes of new car leather, butcher’s block and rosepetal. Medium bodied, silky and supple in the mouth, fine grained tannins frame the plump cherry fruit, woody and floral herbal notes mingle with the smoky French oak flavours to produce memorable complexity. A complete and harmonious vintage on release at 2 years old, the balance of this 2019 is already immaculate andthe finish long and detailed.

Crafted from Pinot Noir , 50% from the winemakers East Base Vineyard, 37% from the Clouston Vineyard and the balance from Hua Nui, Pinnacles, Winery and Martins Vineyards. Fermented with 5% whole clusters and the majority wild yeasts, before 10 months ageing in French Oak, of which 25% new.

Food Pairing: The complexity and concentration will complement slow-cooked beef dishes like ragus, casseroles and braised beef; otherwise perfect with normal Pinot Noir staples like Peking duck and roast pork. Drinking beautifully now, this excellent 2019 will drink at its best until 2025.
