"Sweetly fruited and elegantly fragrant, the wine shows ripe plum, cherry, olive and almond characters on the nose, leading to a smooth palate that’s fruit forward and lingering. The wine offers succulent fruit flavours backed by fine chalky tannins, making it approachable and friendly" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Nov 2019
Rich red with a purple hue. Ripe red and dark berry fruits and a floral, fragrant nose. A vibrant palette of red plum, berries and vanilla. Smoothly textured wine with a lingering finish.
After a spring with few frost events, the new year brought the long hot summer days and cool nights that Hawke’s Bay is known for. Regular rain meant that our vineyard team were kept on their toes. Once picking started we were blessed with good conditions allowing the fruit to be picked at optimal ripeness. A very good season.
This Merlot was blended from the Gimblett Gravels vineyards. Harvested on March 27 2018, this wine was fermented in tank and aged in both seasoned oak barrels and tank. Bottled September 2019.
