Description

Dry, Floral, Pear

"Fantastic bouquet of white flowers and mineral, soils of clay and stone then a fine leesy spice quality. Fruits scents of peach and apple then a fine layer of exotic spices, crushed flowers and perhaps some time in older barrel. A dry wine on the palate with plenty of weight and mouthfeel from acidity and fine tannins, the phenolics add complexity as well. A decent balance of fruit and sense of site deliver a wine of texture and length, moderate+ complexity and lots of style. Best drinking from day of purchase through 2031" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier, Feb 2026

Scale_-_Dry

"From Galicia’s lush vineyards, Bodegas Gallegas offers wines of purity and character, true to their regional roots" Wine Advocate

It shows aromas of ripe apple, pear, white peach, citrus and white flowers with a clear mineral and saline edge. The palate is medium-bodied, balanced and creamy, with bright acidity and a long, structured finish.

Rectoral de Amandi is the Ribeira Sacra project of renowned family-owned Bodegas Gallegas in the parish of Santa María de Amandi, Sober (Lugo), on the north bank of the Sil canyon. It was one of the first commercial bodegas tied to the appellation and is the DO’s largest-volume producer.

Godello is one of Galicia’s ancient indigenous white varieties, almost certainly present since Roman times along the Sil valley, though it came perilously close to extinction after phylloxera and the mid-20th-century preference for higher-yielding grapes. Its determined revival from the 1970s has seen it emerge as a star capable of producing structured, mineral-driven wines with real texture and aging potential. In Ribeira Sacra’s dramatic landscape of “heroic viticulture,” where grapes must be hand-picked from steep, terraced slopes high above the Sil River, Pasal de Esile (named for the river’s course that links the steep banks) is grown on distinctive red clay soils in the Quiroga sub-zone. Pure Godello is fermented and aged on its fine lees to build volume and complexity while preserving the variety’s natural freshness and acidity.

Food Pairing: A versatile, food-friendly white that pairs beautifully with seafood, sushi, pasta and lighter Mediterranean dishes.
